Zoe Aidomo Idemudia is proof that young women can excel in any space they choose. Graduating at the top of her class with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Mathematics and an impressive 29 distinctions out of 31 modules, she has already set the bar high for academic achievement.

Currently pursuing her BSc Honours in Computer Science at the NWU Mahikeng Campus, Zoe is also a dedicated calculus tutor, helping her peers master a subject that many find intimidating. Her passion for learning and teaching runs deep, rooted in a family where education is more than a priority; it’s a way of life. Both of her parents are PhD holders, and her three younger brothers are all strong academics.
Zoe shares that academia gives her a strong sense of pride. As the eldest sibling, she describes how her word is often considered law at home, at least by her younger brothers. However, being a big sister has also taught her valuable skills in negotiation and communication, especially when it comes to bridging the gap between her brothers and their parents.
Beyond the lecture halls, Zoe embraces her creative side. She loves doing her make-up and sees it as another form of self-expression. Independence is something she values deeply, and she credits NWU with giving her the space to be her true self. "Being a woman at NWU has encouraged me to showcase myself," she says. "I love to explore different sides of who I am, and the university has given me the platform to be as diverse as a mosaic."
Zoe’s life is a perfect blend of academic excellence, creativity and independence.
The North-West University continues to empower female students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. By creating inclusive spaces and fostering innovation, NWU ensures that women like Zoe can thrive in traditionally male-dominated fields, inspiring the next generation of leaders and change-makers.
This Women’s Month, Zoe’s story is a reminder that women are multifaceted, capable of being leaders, innovators, nurturers, and creators all at once. She’s a big sister, a scholar, a tutor, a creative, and above all, a woman who embraces every part of who she is.
