Practical Programme Details

The minimum duration for most ADE specialisations is one year, with a maximum duration of three years. The medium of instruction for Distance Learning studies is exclusively English. While much of the learning is flexible, examinations are conducted at NWU examination centres. These exams are set and assessed by NWU staff, ensuring all students meet the required module and programme outcomes.

Regarding costs, study fees are adapted annually and are based on modules, meaning you pay per module rather than a single fee for the entire course. You can contact pc-studyfees@nwu.ac.za to get a quotation.

Admission requirements typically include existing education qualifications like an Advanced Certificate in Education (ACE), College Higher Diploma in Education, Further Diploma in Education (FDE), Advanced Certificate in Teaching (ACT), a general first degree/diploma plus ADT or PGCE, or a Higher Diploma in Education (Postgraduate). A new Advanced Certificate (Level 6) following a former Diploma in Education, including the NPDE, may also be presented for admission. Further specialisation often requires cognate studies in that subject at Level 6 in your entry qualification.
