Almost There: What Your Conditional Offer Means and How to Accept It!

So, you’ve received a conditional offer from #MyNWU? That’s amazing news, you’re on the right track, and we’re proud of how far you’ve come!

Think of a conditional offer as your official “You’re almost there!” moment. You’ve met the admission requirements, but there are just a few final steps to complete before your place is 100% confirmed.

Let’s walk through what this means – and how to make sure your offer doesn’t slip through the cracks.

What is a conditional offer?

A conditional offer means that NWU wants you – but there’s still a condition you need to meet. This could be something like:

  • Final matric results (for current Grade 12 learners),

  • Submitting a document (like a certificate or result),

  • Uploading a completed financial undertaking form,

  • Or any other requirement listed in your offer letter.

It’s not a rejection. In fact, it means you’re very close to becoming an NWU Eagle in 2026!

What you need to do – step by step

Your conditional offer comes with a 15-day validity period, and that clock starts ticking from the day the offer is issued.

Here’s what to do next:

  1. Log into the application portal: Read your offer letter carefully and download for your own records. You may need to use your conditional offer to apply for bursary.

  1. Accept your offer before the deadline: The letter will state “Accept by [date]”. If you don’t respond by then, the offer expires. That means you’ll lose your place – and we don’t want that!

  1. Say Yes/No to NWU Residence: Decide whether you’ll be staying in one of our residences. There’s a place for everyone – but we need to know!

  1. Download, complete, and upload the financial undertaking form: This form confirms your understanding of the financial side of things – super important. Upload the completed financial undertaking form on the “Documents” screen on the application portal.

After you’ve accepted your conditional offer and uploaded the required documents, here’s what happens:

  • If you’ve already finished matric (prior year): The NWU will review everything and, if all is in order, you’ll receive your final offer.

  • If you’re still in matric (current Grade 12): Your final offer will depend on your final NSC results. Once those are out and the condition is met, your place can be confirmed!

A conditional offer is something to celebrate – you’re halfway through the door. Just don’t forget to take that last step. Set a reminder. Ask someone to check in with you. Do whatever you need to make sure you accept it in time and submit what’s needed.

You’ve got this – and we can’t wait to see you on campus, doing big things. 💜

NWU is more than a university – it’s the best start to your future.

It all starts here.
