From his undergraduate to master's degree, Ofentse Molosiwa's academic story is one of focus, growth, and perseverance, all shaped within the lecturer halls of North-West University.
Ofentse began his journey with a Bachelor of Social Science in Political Science and International Relations, followed by a Bachelor of Social Science Honours in Political studies, and has now completed a Master’s degree in the same field. “My journey at NWU from undergraduate to masters can be defined as a mirage to many, an unrealistic dream that was deemed impossible. However, I soared towards my dream and never looked back,” he reflects.
So, what inspired this path? For him, it was all about wanting to learn more and grow in his career. After experiencing the quality of teaching and support during his undergraduate at NWU, continuing with NWU for his postgraduate just felt right. He also had a mentor who genuinely believed in him, someone who kept pushing him to aim higher and reminded him of what he was capable of. That kind of support made all the difference.
His master’s research explored the relationship between foreign aid and poverty reduction in South Africa, aiming to understand whether international financial assistance truly contributes to long-term socio-economic improvement. Time management was one of the biggest challenges he faced along the way, but with structured routines, support from mentors, and unwavering dedication, he overcame it.
Ofentse is now building his career at AFROSAI-E, a capacity-building institution that supports supreme audit institutions across Africa. With big ambitions to make an impact on the continent and beyond, he’s determined to be a voice in key conversations around African development and global issues. Thanks to his time at NWU, he feels equipped and confident, not just academically, but personally. “NWU prepared me to walk into rooms with global organisations like the United Nations and engage with confidence,” he says. It’s clear he’s not just chasing success, he’s ready to lead and make a difference.
As for advice to students just starting out: “Stay focused, ask questions, and take it one step at a time. Don’t be afraid to seek help, there’s always someone at NWU willing to support you.”
Ofentse’s #MyNWU journey is a testament to growth, purpose, and possibility. From long nights of study to standing tall in global spaces, his path shows what’s possible when you’re backed by a university that believes in your potential. As he steps into the future with big dreams and even bigger determination, Ofentse carries the North-West University spirit with him: grounded, driven, and ready to make an impact.
